Growing Pains

As a kid, I would always rearrange famous quotes or say a word incorrectly, thinking it or I was right. One of those sayings were "Groin Pains." I never understood why my family thought these things were funny because they sounded exactly the same in my head. They would try to correct me and say, "No, it's called 'Growing Pains' and I would reply with laughter mixed with frustration. "That is what I said!!! Groin Pains." Because of my Auditory Processing Disorder {APD}, my mind thought in such a different way. Words and letters sounded exactly the same to me. This and several other things became known to my family as McKinley-isms.

Because of this favorite childhood saying, I thought it would be a perfect phrase to use as the name for my series where I share my stories, memories, and emotions of my learning disability and my childhood - some of which are hilarious, a learning process, or me finally being able to make sense of it all.

I hope that by having these segments I will be able to reach people or parents who may possibly be going through the same or similar thing, that there is chance for growth, and that we can all make amazing changes to reach our fullest potential. It's not easy, and it never will be... it is work... A LOT OF HARD WORK!

We all have Growing Pains, some may be small or big, painful or fun, but we all grow from these life experiences.

Here are just a few post to get you started on the series,
