LDS Temple

Have you ever found your selfstaring at this amazing piece of architecture thinking... what does it look like inside? I know I did once.

I took this one last weekend
I am in love with this amazing building... mostly because it is like a modern day castle!!!
These two I stole from Courtney Davis.
Random fact, did you know that every detail of this temple... even down to
the door knob, stone, and hinges have a meaning and story?
Well guess what?!? Here, in the Salt Lake City Temple Visitor's Center, they have made a replica of what it looks like inside this temple. It looks like the most perfect and beautiful doll house you will ever see. It is enclosed in a glass case to help preserve it, but I felt the need to share as much as possible with you. Keep in mind that my images do not even come close to capturing all the tiny details and all the beautiful handwork that is found in this amazing temple.

This is the east side of the building with the tree point
pillars (as seen in the image with the tulips).
Do you see the spiral stair case in the two towers?

This is the inside of the building with the south wall removed.

Same picture as above... just a different angle

I was trying to get a closer view of the baptismal font.

This is what the touch screen looks like. This is the baptismal font.
I want to share another totally random fact... did you know that when buffalos feel threatened, they put
their calf/calves in a center and circle around him while facing out as a form of protection,
just like these oxen. This was not designed with that exact purpose,
but I found the similarity so fascinating.
If you ever find yourself in Utah, you will have to go to Temple Square to learn all about the history of this building and the state. It is quite the phenomenal story! Plus you can go see the replica in real life! They have these touch screen displays that take you step by step of what each room's purpose is. It was so fun to be there and talk to non-members and hear their questions.

If you would like a break down of what each room is please email me and I will be happy to send you the image with written details. Want to learn more on your own rather then emailing me? You may also visit Mormon.org.

Random Macaroni

Do you ever start to sing a song and realize you actually don't know the lyrics at all? Well much to my embarrassment this happens more then I would every like to admit. But I have to because fortunately I live in reality and cannot repress the truth....

On Sunday I decided to make mac and cheese for lunch... this never happens in our house because neither one of us are truly big fans. ANYWAYS.... this meal inspired me to sing a song while cooking.

Me: Yankee Doodle went to town riding on a donkey
Gian: WHAT? You have got to be kidding me right?
Me: Umm, what are you talking about?
Gian: Riding on a donkey... No, it's a pony!!!
Me: Ohh like a pony is any better!!! Ponies are the smallest horse on this earth...
Gian: Donkeys are associated with bad things... they're an ass
Me: Yanky Doodle went to town riding on a PONY, stuck a feather in his hat and called it Yankee Dandy
Gian: SERIOUSLY?!?! Do you not know your childhood songs? He called it macaroni...
Me: I DON'T FREAKING KNOW, I FORGOT!

Ok space cadet brain.... if I was making macaroni and cheese, and macaroni inspired me to sing the song, how did I forget that word in that line? And why in the world would he ever ride a donkey? It was like I leaned over the boiling water to check my noodles and some brain cells got damaged in the process.

And can we please talk about why Ekemona looks so serious in this picture? For about 10 minutes this was his face the WHOLE TIME!!! hahaahha Ohhhh I love that little man!

Why so sssssssssseeeeeeeeeerious?!?

Her name is Lola, Lola Cabana

Remember how I told you the iPad is amazing because we can do FaceTime with Gian's family in Vegas?

Gian's Lola*... I am sad to say that she does not have a feather in her hair or a dress down to there, BUUUUUUUUUUUT she was able to do FaceTime with Ekemona!!! It was seriously the best thing I have ever witnessed. Ekemona loved it and loved hearing everyone say his name and seeing their faces. He was even able to show off to them and show them all his cool new moves.

Isn't Lola the sweetest thing you have ever seen? One thing Lola always does is smell Eke, it is a Filipino thing and I think it is the sweetest.... anyways she was trying to smell him through FaceTime!! I wish she was really able too.... LOVE & MISS YOU LOLA!!!

I love that Lola is able to see her great-grandson and that it means a lot to her. She is such a loving and compassionate woman, and I am so glad to be able to spend any time we can get with her. Now, when will they make it so our iPhones can teleport?!?

*Lola is grandma in Tagalog, and Lolo is grandpa

Miniature Dinosaur

Did you know that I have a miniature dinosaur on my lap?!?! What... You didn't? Ohhh let me show you:

She is a 2005 PowerBook G4.... I actually am not even sure what that means, but she is 6 years old. That is like 90 years in technology life.

I try not to judge her too much because I know it can be hard to work at that age, and for the most part she is a precious and sweet creature. Other times when I nicely ask her to edit photos on Photoshop or Illistartor, I feel like she is looking at me like this...

AND IT IS FREAKING SCARY!!!! You know when she gives you that color wheel of death... I fear that she may suddenly combust into dust and evil particles causing me to be computer-less.

I would also like to inform you that her battery and charger are on life-line constantly!!! She will only live without the charger for about 15 min, and to charge the giant beast you have to hold it in a very certain and particular way.... ALSO she will not allow me to watch any videos whatsoever!!! UGH!!!!

She gets the job done, and that is what I am thankful for.... she may take 3 min to fully load Nie Nie's page, but she gets 'er done!!! I wish we could afford another one to replace her with... or I wish the Apple store did something like a trade in, you know like what they do for cars, BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOO they act like you should just splurge or go in debt.

So here is my most brilliant plan... I will find a way to sell things - either headbands, or something else I have never even heard of, or possibly just lemonade. I will call it "A Mac for a McK Foundation" and 100% of all proceeds will go to a new computer. I will even make a chart that will show where the goal is and how far away I am from reaching that goal. IT WILL BE PERFECT!!!

If you would like to participate in this foundation, feel free to email me.
I am seriously kidding and could not take any money from anyone... EVER!

When BFFs Come to Town

It was so much fun to have Elyse come to visit. We went on a walk up the canyon, ate tons of delicious food, and watched the fireworks. Ekemona sure loved her too. Elyse could make him laaaaaaaaaaaaaaugh for hours. It was really cute. She even brought us Sprinkle Cupcakes and a Lakers jersey for Ekemona. Isn't she the best thing eeeeeeeeever?!? Thank you sooooooooooo much Elyse for being such a sweet friend. Now we will come visit you next time.  Love you tons!!! {These photos are in no particular order whatsoever}

Wearing his new Kobe jersey.

Seeing Lysie for the first time

Do you see those beautiful new earings? Elyse gave them to me and
they are my very favorite thing!!! I LOOOOOOOOOVE THEM!!

Our 2 hour walk up the canyon. It was a lot of fun... wish she
were here so we could do it again.

Gian got me Peonies for my birthday

Is it just me or does Ekemona look more like Elyse then he does me?

 The view from our place

 Going to church

Because we are the two best friends that anyone could have

 He loves her!!!

While Elyse was up in the air

Some of the best shakes and burgers

Gian got the Key Lime Cupcake Shake

Elyse got the Chocolate Cream Oreo Pie Shake

I got the Peach Cobbler Pie Shake

Did you notice how they have pie and cupcakes in their titles... that is because they literally put a whole cupcake or a whole slice of pie into the shake. And I don't feel bad eating one because there is no artificial coloring or flavoring. It is pretty fun to watch them get made.

hahahah I don't know how this happened, but I would like to share with you that I spilled water all over myself! And G and E also spilled or dropped something too... they must have not wanted me to feel embarrassed ;)
 hmmmmmmmmmmmm I want one nooooooow!!!

My little pumpkin was very tired!!

No Pictures, Some Lyrics... Ohh and Moving?!?!

It has been a long wait to hear back from the law schools Gian applied to. A. LONG. BLOODY. TIME!!!! Try 6 months long!

Gian applied to several schools and several of them were in California. My brother-in-law informed us of the current situation of law schools in California. Have you heard? Well let me just tell you the severity of the situation. There are several law schools in CA that are going under review and are under the possibility of losing their ABA Accredidation for law school.... that means their law students are SCREWED {read up really quick on the link for a better explanation}. What else does that mean for the students... funny you ask, it means the current students will have to transfer to another law school, with zero credits... ZERO, 0, NONE, NODDA, NOTHING!!! All their time and hard work was for nothing and they have start over from the very beginning. Not only do they loose all their credits, but their tuition is non-refundable. Some of these students have lost as little as $80,000! GULP... that is a lot to loose! Those poor students will loose their time and money, and now they need to retake the classes they already took. Let's just say we are all thankful that we are not in that exact situation.

After anxiously being on a few waiting lists, not getting into Gian's top picks, and the situation above, we decided it is best to prolong the wait of law school. WHAT?!?!?! I am even really saying this!

Here is our plan so far.... apply again in September and hope that Gian will A). not be wait listed again and B). get accepted to his top picks

We aren't entirely sure of what will happen come August because Gian's current job requires him to be a student and well, he is not a student anymore. Also, the scholarships and grants that he once had are gone too because again, Gian is no longer a student. GULP.... I guess I will become an extreme coupon-er and/or thrift more then I ever have before!!

Moving.... somewhere, sometime, somehow, just don't ask us when or where!! It could be down the street in 3 weeks or in another state in 6 months. So we are either moving or not ahahhahahaha!!! Don't you just looooooooooooove all this certainty!

All I can really tell you is even though these are hard times, that I have cried to Gian about all the emotions I possess {Funny... hahaha I am a girl, and I think and feel. Ohhh and as a side effect to all of that comes the water works! Who would have thought!}, we feel really good about this decision. We are waving our white flag so Heavenly Father's plan will become our plan, to better ourselves and our situation. I truly believe when things are meant to be; they always work themselves out and I know that this time is really good for me to practice my patience. I am learning to be flexible and learning to deal with the stress because lets face it, this won't be the last hurdle we face as family, and I know that this will become a pattern and culture for our family, so I want to make sure we can deal with it in a positive way. Remember "stressed" is "desserts" spelled backwards.

So wish us luck these next few months! Keep us in your prayers if you feel so inclined to do so, can't say I would object! Ahhaha and any news that comes our way, I will be sure to fill you in and let you know where and what we are doing.

Until then.... let's listen to the wise words of Lady Ga Ga:

Just dance, gonna be OK da da doo doo mmm
Just dance, spin the record babe,  da da doo doo mmm
Just dance, gonna be OK da da doo doo mmm

I can't remember but it's alright, a-alright
