It is Important to Me!!!

IT CAME, IT CAME, IT CAME!!! It is finally here!!! My dad got me this present I have been asking for since... since I heard it on TV in like 2005, regardless of me having any children or not.

My Baby Can Read

Funny thing is... I got Gian "Teach Your Baby Math" ahhahahah. When G-On was in one of his classes last year, his professor talked about it with the class. G knew he wanted to do this with his son-to-be. GDashOn is very passionate about math and teaching, he really is so brilliant and wants to share that love with his kids.

I have no idea how Ekemona will actually respond to these products, but I want to do everything I can to help him progress. I remember thinking when I was younger, how I will do everything I can to help my children read, and read young. Because of my APD and my delayed reading and comprehension skills, I have always felt very passionate about it. I would never want my children to have to go through what I went through. This is my passion, to ensure their ability to read, to teach them in multiple ways... because we all do learn differently. So if Eke ends up not loving it then that is OK. At least I know I did my best to get him interested and get him involved while still stimulating his growing brain!

It may sound funny to some that we as parents can be so passionate about learning. From my personal experience, I understand that it may not be for every child, and by no means will I ever push anything they don't want, but it is important to me to offer them every possibility to learn, especially because I know of the struggles and pains that can come with delays.

Ukulele

My head is pounding... I woke up with the worst head ache ever!!! WHY DOES MY BRAIN HAVE A HEART BEAT?

Anyways... while Ekemona sleeps, this is how I now waste my time...

Gian got me this beaut for my birthday! What do you think? Do you see the little dolphin? Ohhh how I love her!

Speaking of birthday... I am waiting for more photos before I do a post. This weekend was amazing, and I had so much fun with BFF Elyse! We ate some bomb food {of course}, went on a beautiful walk, played games, relaxed... it was perfect! I L.O.V.E.-D this weekend and all the fun memories we made. By the way, you wouldn't believe how much Eke loooooooooves Elyse. All of that will come soon! I promise.

Desserts... Yes Please!!!

Yes, I am stressed!!! There is a lot going on that is keeping me from falling into a deep sleep at night. I like structure and stability. I like knowing what will come next, and right now I am trying to be patient and flexible. I feel like I have been more negative, less spunky, and it is hard for me to not be myself.

Just a few days ago I came across this sign....

And I began to think why can't we turn stress into something more delightful? That is what I am working on right now. I am going to make this time something worth while, something that I love as much as tiramisu.  I do believe that stress is healthy to some extent, that we all need the ups and downs in life, but why does it have to be associated with something negative? It doesn't!!!

One of the things that is helping me turn around my attitude is my BFF Elyse. She is coming to visit me on Friday!!! I can't tell you how excited I am about this! We have been friends since we were 10 years old and I could just burst with excitement that she is coming all the way out here to spend time with us!!! I am so lucky to have such great girl friends in my life. It will be the perfect get away!!

My new mission is to lighten our stress load by finding joy in the journey! I want to find ways to turn it around and make it an enjoyable time because negative stress doesn't always have to be so negative. They can have productive and positive outcomes too!

How do you deal with stress or the daily grind?

A Day at the Park

Laura and I took our little men to the park. We had a picnic, pushed our kids in the swings, watched her boy Ethan run around on the playground, and fed the ducks. It was so much fun to make use of the park and see how much the kids really enjoyed everything {Unfortunately I thought I uploaded my photos only to find out I had only uploaded two before deleting them all}.

MoMo on the swing having a great time!!!

Feeding the duckies. Both Ethan and MoMo loved the animals.
Do you see the turtles in the top right corner?

Inspirational

I just saw this on a friend's blog and feel impressed to share it on mine. This is a story about a couple who survived a plane crash 2.5 years ago. It is their story of hope and faith and finding happiness along the way. It really is the most beautiful story!

If you want to read more about Stephanie's story, or who she was before the accident be sure to stop by her blog at Nie Nie's Dialogs.

PS I have added her to Amazing Mothers With Spectacular Children list because
she is an amazing mother and her story is worth sharing over and over!

June

J
une represents all that is good in this world: school gets out for the summer, you drink lemonade and run through the sprinklers, kids play in the streets, kites fly in the sky. June is a magical month. Happiness just floats in the air while the sunny sun showers us with warmth! I LOVE JUNE!!

Also, it is my birthday month!!!! Not the point....
It's like, this is the time the calendar year should have started. I just freaking love your guts, JUNE! You are a glorious month that sparkles with happiness and joy! Keep on bringing the love. I can't wait to see what else this year has to offer!

Hairy Hair Hair Hair

Ekemona has some wild and crazy hair! It is long, it is starting to curl, and in certain parts it looks like a toupee or Phantom of the Opera.... take your pick. Gian and I always disagree about how to style it. He brings the hair down in front of his face and I think it looks dorky, so I try to push it over to the side {which is our best option} and that too looks redonkulous! Ohh and might I add because of him rubbing his head on the car seat and crib, the back of his head gets all gnarly. So this hairy hair situation has officially become a nuisance.

On Saturday, we couldn't come to an agreement of how to style his hair... AGAIN. So I suggested, why don't we just cut it. It really was our only option. I thought about just pulling out the scissors in the junk drawer, but then I thought.... Wait this is his first hair cut, I want to make it special!

After convincing Gian that this was the best solution, we ran over to Cookie Cutters Kid Barber and told them our thoughts. Because of his helmet, his hair was not an even length all around... anywhere, so in order for it to blend he had to cut it shorter then we ever wanted, but it looks good and he looks like a little boy!!

Here he is getting his hurr did!

Isn't this chair brilliant? It really has a horn too. I want one instead of a high chair!

One last good look of that shag!

First cut is the deepest... What?!?! Cheryl Crow's song is definitely relevant!!!

I sorta wonder if we should have kept that top long. I think it looks pretty sweet!!

He kinda looks like Ronny from Jersey Shore ahahhah Wouldn't you say? He just need to do a fist pump.

It is all done!! Look at this little man, he looks like a big kid now.

Please admire his perfectly round head!!! Thank you helmet for
restoring the shape to when he was born... ahaha

I made sure to keep a locket of his hair for his baby book. I doubt he will care as much as I do, but I loved loved loved those baby locks so I wasn't about to let it all be swept away!
